Orthosis Selection for Stroke Survivors:
 -  The Clinical Process from Assessment to Prescription and Practical Adjustment Using Triple Action -

When selecting an ankle-foot orthosis (AFO), clinicians are often faced with a wide range of options in terms of design, materials, and joint configurations. Many of you may have wondered what criteria should be used and how to make the most appropriate selection for each patient.

In this seminar, Professor Soji Tanaka of Niigata University of Health and Welfare, a leading expert in stroke rehabilitation, will share his extensive research and clinical experience with lower-limb orthoses, including the highly adjustable Triple Action ankle joint manufactured by Becker in the United States. Through practical examples, he will explain what clinicians should assess, how orthoses should be selected, and the clinical decision-making process involved in AFO prescription.

In addition, two of Professor Tanaka’s research collaborators will provide complementary perspectives. Mr. Hiroya Yoshida of Toda Chuo Rehabilitation Hospital will present case-based clinical examples, while Mr. Kenji Yamazaki of Kawamura Gishi Co., Ltd. will discuss the various types of ankle-foot orthoses and their characteristics from the perspective of a certified prosthetist-orthotist.

To enhance participants’ understanding of the presentations and provide opportunities to address challenges encountered in daily clinical practice, ample time will be allocated for questions and discussion.

This seminar is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of AFO selection and to strengthen practical clinical skills. We look forward to welcoming a wide range of healthcare professionals who wish to deepen their knowledge and improve their orthotic decision-making in stroke rehabilitation.
